Where to find vegetarian restaurants in Phuket?
Phuket has a growing number of vegetarian and vegan restaurants, from local Thai-Chinese ‘Jay’ shops to modern plant-based cafes. Many regular Thai restaurants also offer vegetarian options if you ask. Look for the red and yellow ‘Jay’ flag (เจ), a common sign across the island that means the food is free of meat, dairy, eggs, onions and garlic.
During the Phuket Vegetarian Festival, usually in October, hundreds of food stalls pop up around Phuket Town, especially near the Chinese shrines. The variety of meat-free dishes during that week is impressive, and it is one of my favourite times to eat around the island.
Soul Vegan Cafe

Soul Vegan Cafe is the first fully plant-based restaurant in Karon Beach, and it quickly became one of my regular stops. The food is genuinely good, and even if you are not vegan, it is worth a visit. The focus is on health and taste rather than strict veganism, which is probably why it appeals to a wider crowd.
The restaurant sits on Karon Road, about 200 metres from the beach. Look for the Union Jack tuk-tuk parked at the entrance. Inside, there is a semi-covered dining room with patterned blue tiles, wooden furniture and pink neon lights near the bar. Outside, white wicker sofas sit under umbrellas in a shaded garden. Big trees keep it cool even at midday.
The menu mixes Thai and Western dishes. Thai options include Massaman curry, Khao Soi, Pad Thai and tom yum. Western choices cover burgers, pizzas, falafel and smoothie bowls. The ice cream and cakes are all gluten-free, refined sugar-free and 100% plant-based. Staff speak good English and can explain which dishes are also gluten-free.

Loukthor Vegetarian Restaurant

Loukthor is one of the most popular vegetarian restaurants on Ranong Road in Phuket Town, right next to Jui Tui Shrine. It gets especially busy during the Phuket Vegetarian Festival in October, but it is open and busy all year round.
There are a few vegan restaurants on that same stretch of road, but Loukthor stands out for its quality. You can order cook-to-order dishes like fried rice and stir-fried noodles, or pick from a pre-cooked buffet with a wide variety of curries and stir-fry dishes. The Khanom Jeen (thin rice noodles with curry sauce) is excellent. Some dishes can be quite spicy, so ask the staff to adjust to your preference.

Dok Bua Vegetarian Restaurant

Dok Bua (also known as Lotus Vegetarian) is a modern vegetarian restaurant located at a quiet T-junction in Phuket Town. The front porch is decorated with colourful plants and a small water fountain, making it a nice spot to sit outside. Inside, bright wooden tables, colourful seats and two large wall paintings of flowers give it a clean, modern look.
The menu covers authentic Thai dishes from street food-style skewers to curries, all made vegan. The mock meat textures are impressive, especially the Lemon Grass Fish in Tamarind Sauce and the Pork Skewer with Papaya Salad platter. There is also a shelf of vegan snacks you can buy to take home. Parking is limited, so a motorbike is easier than a car.

Go Fresh Organic Cafe

Go Fresh Organic Cafe is a small vegetarian restaurant tucked away on a quiet road in Soi Naya, near Nai Harn Beach. Despite being ‘roadside’, hardly any cars pass by, so you eat surrounded by trees and the sounds of nature. The restaurant also sells local organic fruits and vegetables from wooden stands near the entrance.
The menu covers Western breakfasts like Tofu Scramble and Avocado Toast, as well as Thai dishes like Green Curry and Massaman Curry. The tempeh is made in-house and is excellent. The owner, Khun Oi, is very friendly and makes the place feel personal. There is off-street parking, which is a bonus in this part of Phuket.

Vegetarian House Restaurant

Vegetarian House is a local favourite on Chaofa Road in Chalong. You can spot it easily from the road by its large yellow banner and the ‘Jay’ flags outside. This is a no-frills, authentic Thai vegetarian experience, not a trendy cafe.
The dining room runs alongside an open kitchen where you can watch the food being prepared. At the front, there is a noodle soup station where a lady chef makes soup fresh to order. Choose your noodles, vegetables and tofu style. The buffet trays behind offer curries, stir-fries and mock meat dishes. The Massaman curry here is a good balance of spicy and sweet. A golden Buddha shrine sits at the back of the restaurant, adding to the calm atmosphere. This place opens early and closes in the afternoon, so plan accordingly.

Vegan Phuket

Vegan Phuket is a quiet, atmospheric restaurant in Wichit, a bit off the usual tourist path. The setting includes a small garden, and the overall vibe is peaceful and relaxed. The menu focuses on traditional Thai dishes made entirely vegan, from fried rice and green curry to tom yum and stir-fried noodles.
They also serve homemade cakes, kombucha and probiotic drinks. The portions are generous and the flavours are authentic Thai rather than Western-style vegan. It is a good option if you want to try real Thai food that happens to be plant-based.
