Set in a unique location on the beach at the south end of Karon Beach, Tann Terrace Phuket has a beach bar, a restaurant, and a small boutique hotel. The restaurant serves Thai, Italian and Western dishes with a wide range of drinks and cocktails. What used to be a run-down Thai restaurant where we used to have a casual Thai lunch is now one of the most popular beach clubs in Phuket.

We were invited to sit in loungers, day beds, and garden tables with chairs or hammocks spread across an immense wooden terrace right by the beach in the shade of pandanus and newly planted coconut trees. The daybeds by the beach are the most popular, but we had no problem getting a small table by the beach.

There are now frequent parties with DJs at the club, and guests can dance and celebrate special events. Note that the club has become busy with a young party crowd and can be quite loud, so if you are looking for a quiet place to spend your afternoon, look at our list of beach clubs in Phuket.

The Food

With a large menu and such a view, Tann Terrace is an enjoyable beach bar at any time of the day. We like starting the day in this comfortable setting with one of the many breakfast options available from their bakery.

It was not obvious initially, but Tann is mostly an Italian restaurant serving a good choice of pizzas and a few Thai dishes. The bakery is perfect to start the day with a wide choice of breakfasts and takeaways. The menu is English and well-illustrated, making it easy to trigger our appetite. The service is friendly, and while it can be a little slow at peak hours, the team remains cool and attentive.

Of course, the place gets really busy in the evening, as the sun sets in front of the restaurants. The selfie frenzy starts, and all the customers start posing with so much passion that it is somehow entertaining to us. Cocktails, sangria and sparkling wine are served, and the mood is good. As one of us doesn’t drink alcohol, the list of mocktails, smoothies and cold-pressed juices was long enough.
