A Famous Restaurant in Chinatown
Tanbo Chicken Rice is a small and humble restaurant right on Yaowarat Road in Bangkok Chinatown, next to the famous Hua Seng Hong. Itโs easy to miss, but locals and visitors line up for their chicken rice, especially in the evenings.
They serve Singapore-style chicken rice and offer both boiled and fried versions. We tried the boiled chicken, and it was soft and not dry. The meat had a nice natural taste.
What stood out most was the rice as it wasnโt the usual plain white rice you find at most places. It had a light yellow colour and a richer aroma, probably cooked with chicken broth and fat. The flavour was stronger and more satisfying than we expected.
A plate costs just 60 baht, which is surprisingly cheap for a spot in the middle of Yaowarat. The place is clean and has a few fans, but itโs still a basic shopfront โ no frills, just good food.
They open daily from around 7 am to 11 pm, and most people come in for a quick, filling meal before continuing their Chinatown walk. Itโs not fancy, but itโs one of the better chicken rice places weโve tried in Bangkok.
