Nusara Restaurant

A Modern Thai Restaurant overlooking Wat Pho

Nusara is one of the best dinners we’ve had in Bangkok for a long time. Chef Ton, a long-time friend who started with the now famous Le Du Restaurant in Silom, created this restaurant as a tribute to his grandmother, who inspired his love for Thai cooking. The name “Nusara” is hers, and the dishes are a mix of family recipes and modern ideas. We kept this restaurant for a special occasion and it was truly delightful.

Nusara restaurant is set on several floors, with a colorful bar on the ground floor, a dining room on the second floor and a terrace on the third floor.

The Location

Wat Pho seen from Nusara Bangkok

The location is fantastic. Nusara is in Ta Tien in Bangkok Old Town, overlooking the beautiful Wat Pho, one of Bangkok’s most famous temples. From the dining room, you can see the golden spires of Wat Pho lit up at night—it’s a view you won’t forget.

The best way to enjoy such a unique view is to have a drink on the open-air terrace before dinner. If you are as lucky as we were, you will get one of those dramatic skies that make the monsoon season so special.

12-course Menu

Nusara Bangkok

The menu is a 12-course experience, and each dish is small but full of flavor, using fresh ingredients from Thailand. We loved each and every dish, they were delicious and beautifully presented. The food is creative but still feels very Thai. Trying to remember the name and ingredient of each dish was unnecessarily complicated and would have spoiled our special event. As you can see from the photos, it is very delicate and so beautifully presented, just go with the flow and slowly enjoy each dish!

The setting is superb, the kitchen team is as skilful as you can expect from Chef Ton’s experience, and the staff is friendly and explains every dish. Even though Nusara is ranked No. 6 in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, it’s not formal or intimidating. If you visit Bangkok, Nusara doesn’t come cheap; it is a great and memorable experience, not just for the food but also for the amazing view of Wat Pho.
