A Famous Local Noodle Restaurant in Chinatown
Lim Lao Ngow Fishball Noodle received a rating in the Bangkok Michelin Guide.
Lim Lao Ngow is one of our favourite street food stops in Bangkok’s Chinatown, and even though it’s not right on the main Yaowarat Road, it’s just a short 150-metre walk into a small side street. It’s easy to miss if you don’t know it’s there, but the Michelin Bib Gourmand sign hanging out front is a good clue — they’ve held the title for nine years in a row.
There’s just one thing on the menu: a bowl of fishball noodles. You choose your noodle type and whether you want it with soup or dry. It’s simple, fast, and delicious. Our food arrived within five minutes of ordering, which is rare for a place with such a solid reputation. The noodles were light and springy, and the fishballs had that perfect bouncy texture.
It’s hot since seating is outdoors, but that’s part of the charm. You can also order pork satay from the neighbouring stall — if you’re patient enough for the queue. They’ve now opened a more upscale version at Velaa Sindhorn in Langsuan called Lim Lao Ngow x Cloud Dragon, but if you want the real deal, the original stall in Yaowarat still feels like the best way to enjoy it.
