An Amazing Rooftop Restaurant in Silom, Bangkok
Le Du Kaan, on the 56th floor of The Empire Tower on Sathorn Road in Bangkok’s Silom district, is a remarkable dining experience that combines panoramic city views with creative Thai cuisine. This Rooftop restaurant is the latest addition to the culinary collection of our longtime friend Chef Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn, who began his journey about ten years ago with his very first restaurant just across the street, called Le Du.
Located just across the street, Le Du has since earned a Michelin star and international acclaim for its modern take on Thai cuisine. While Chef Ton is the creator and owner of Le Du Kaan, the kitchen is run by Chef Banky, who previously led Samut, Chef Ton’s fine dining restaurant in Phuket, which focuses on southern Thai flavors and local seafood.
Le Du Kaan continues Chef Ton’s philosophy of showcasing Thailand’s seasonal ingredients and culinary heritage in a modern and innovative way. The menu is a celebration of Thai flavors, reimagined with fresh techniques and artistic presentation. Each dish is meticulously crafted to highlight the balance of tastes that define Thai cuisine—spicy, sweet, sour, and salty. Chef Banky’s expertise shines through in every plate, drawing on his experience at Samut to deliver beautiful dishes that are both refined and deeply rooted in tradition. Service at Le Du Kaan is consistently excellent. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly.
The restaurant’s design is also impressive. The interior blends sleek modern aesthetics with subtle touches of Thai culture. Gold accents and wooden textures evoke Thailand’s rich heritage, while the outdoor terrace offers stunning views of Bangkok’s skyline and the Chao Phraya River. It’s a setting that feels luxurious and welcoming.
Le Du Kaan also features a rooftop bar where guests can enjoy cocktails inspired by Thailand’s diverse regions. It’s a very popular spot for sunset drinks or post-dinner relaxation while taking in the cityscape and trying to identify the most famous landmarks of Bangkok, such as IconSiam, Sky Bar rooftop and the nearby Mahanakron Skywalk.
Chef Ton’s reputation as one of Thailand’s leading chefs is well-earned, and Chef Banky brings his flair and expertise to Le Du Kaan’s kitchen. Le Du Kaan is an unmissable experience to enjoy Thai cuisine with breathtaking sunset views over Bangkok.
How to get to Le Du Kaan?
To reach Le Du Kaan rooftop restaurant on the 56th floor of Empire Tower in Silom, start at Chong Nonsi BTS station. Use the skywalk to enter the building on the second floor. From there, take the escalator down to the first floor. Finding the elevator can be tricky—it’s located at the very back of the immense lobby and marked for EA Rooftop access, not the office floors. Look for an attendant near the elevator entrance who can guide you, as there are elevators for the other rooftop restaurants, like Nobu. The elevator is beautifully decorated and takes you directly to the restaurant reception.
