A Thai Restaurant at Central Phuket
Khaithong at Central Phuket (Floresta Wing) is one of those places that often gets missed, which is surprising considering how good the food is. The elegant design with its marble tables and soft lighting might make it look expensive, but the restaurant is actually quite approachable. The menu leans toward Thai-Chinese cuisine, with a focus on presentation and quality.
We stopped by for a late lunch and were impressed by the flavours and attention to detail. The fried rice with crab meat was full of large, fresh chunks, and the kale stir-fried with shrimp paste was cooked just rightโtender but still crisp. The duck noodles were delicious, and the tang yuan dessert in hot ginger syrup is always a great way to end the meal.
Kaithong is part of the well-known Luk Kai Thong Royal Cooking brand, which started as a humble restaurant in Bangkok in 1990 and has grown into a respected name in Thai-Chinese cuisine. You can also find their restaurants at IconSiam, EmQuartier and one at the new One Bangkok complex in Bangkok. The Floresta branch continues this legacy with consistency, quality, and a touch of sophistication that makes it one of the better dining spots inside the mall, if you take the time to notice it on the 3rd floor.
Prices are higher than average, but the quality is consistently high. Khaithong is related to the well-known Luk Kai Thong Royal Cuisine brand, and it shows. The service is attentive, the atmosphere is refined, and the food delivers. Itโs a great option for a nice meal inside the mall, especially if youโre looking for something better than the usual food court fare.
