Great Comfort Food in Langsuan
Hoppe Coffeehouse at Velaa Sindhorn Village is one of our favorite spots for comfort food on Langsuan Road in Bangkok. Despite its modest size, with only a few tables inside and three outside, it offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The menu features a mix of Western and Thai dishes, all reasonably priced and consistently delicious.
We often visit for their roasted chicken or creamy beef stew with rice, paired with a great selection of wines at fair prices. The list of dishes is long and well illustrated, which helps a lot as the photos always trigger our appetite! The friendly team always greets us with a smile, making every visit enjoyable. It’s a perfect place for casual dining in the city.

For the white wines: La Campagne Sauvignon Blanc 280 baht, 2022 Domaine Ferraton Vin de France “La Tournée” 360 Baht and Côtes du Rhône “Saint-Esprit” 2021 Delas 360 Baht. Fr the red: Avignonesi Cantaloro Rosso Toscana 2018 (280 Baht), 2018 Château Laulan Côtes de Bordeaux (360 Baht) and Côtes du Rhône “Saint Esprit” 2021 Delas (360 Baht). The wine list by the bottle is even better and longer, but it would be too long to list it here.
The origins
Hoppe is the child of Hot Shoppe, a long-running, no-frills restaurant in Bangkok known for its classic comfort food and old-school charm. It’s been around since the 80s and still draws a loyal crowd who come for dishes like crispy fried chicken, club sandwiches, spaghetti, and Thai-Western fusion favourites. The atmosphere is relaxed and retro, with a lived-in feel that regulars love. The prices are reasonable, and the service is quick and friendly. It’s the kind of place that feels untouched by trends, and that’s exactly why people keep coming back.
