A Beautiful Hidden Beach in Phuket
Friendship Beach lies on the southeast coast of Phuket along Chalong Bay, just north of Rawai Beach. We recently revisited this little-known spot because it’s such a different experience from the island’s more popular beaches. The beach is quite basic, and the sand may not be as soft as on the west coast, but what it lacks in terms of swimming conditions is its peaceful atmosphere.
Friendship Beach’s main point isn’t the beach quality, but its quiet setting and location between Rawai and Chalong, and it is about 20 minutes from Phuket Town. The beach isn’t ideal for swimming, but like us, people come here to relax or work on their laptops while enjoying the sea views.

The heart of this area is the long-established Friendship Beach Resort, which has created its own small community on this quiet shoreline. With 30 comfortable rooms and suites, the resort offers a beachfront experience with beautiful views of the islands beyond.
During our latest visit, we spent time at the resort’s restaurant just between the swimming pool and the beach. We enjoyed sitting under those tropical Thai bamboo huts where a gentle breeze flows through, creating a naturally cool atmosphere.
