Where to Eat in Patong Beach?
Patong has more restaurants than any other part of Phuket, and the quality has improved dramatically over the years. When I first came here in the 1990s, the scene was already catering to tourists, but on a much smaller scale. A handful of seafood restaurants on the beach, some simple Thai places on the side streets, and not much else. Today, you have everything from street food stalls to Michelin-recognised fine dining, and the choice can be overwhelming.
I had been covering Patong restaurants on Phuket 101 since the early days, scattered across different pages and sections. After a while, it became obvious they deserved their own dedicated page. There were simply too many good places to eat here to keep burying them elsewhere.
Thai food is easy to find in Patong Beach. Wherever you walk, especially close to the beach, you will see restaurants serving the classics. They are generally good, but often toned down for international tastes. As a long-time resident, I am hard to please when it comes to Thai food, so I tend to head to Kaab Kluay or Kalim Rim Lay when I want the real thing. Seafood is also well represented, with a couple of restaurants right on the beach road. Reviews are mixed, but they are still worth trying, particularly if you are after fresh catch with a sea view.
One of the reasons people come to Phuket is to be by the sea, and eating with a sea view in Patong is absolutely worth it. I often bring friends there for exactly that reason. For fine dining by the water, L’Arome by the Sea is hard to beat. Pan Yaah Seafood and Sea Salt Lounge and Grill are also great options, and if you want something a little less expensive with the same setting, La Gritta is a great choice.
One thing I always tell people: try not to order Western food in Patong. Go for seafood or Thai food instead. Tom Yum, Phad Thai, fried rice, green curry. That is the real Patong. But finding the right place on a first trip is not easy, and that is exactly why I built this page.
Most of the best eating is not on Bangla Road itself, which is mostly bars. The restaurants around Jungceylon and on the side streets behind the beach are where you find the places worth coming back to.
I have been eating in Patong for 30 years. This list is built on that.

L’Arôme by the Sea Phuket is a contemporary French fine-dining restaurant dramatically set above Kalim Beach, just north of Patong. Built on the cliffside, the restaurant offers one of the most spectacular sea views in Phuket, with uninterrupted panoramas of the Andaman Sea that evolve from daylight to sunset and into the night. Combining refined cuisine with a breathtaking coastal setting, L’Arôme by the Sea is widely regarded as one of the island’s premier dining destinations and is listed in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand.

Tambu is a delicious Indian Restaurant located on the rooftop of Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong, on a hill 2 km south of Patong Beach. The restaurant is set in an immense and luxurious tent with a high ceiling and a chandelier, inspired by the tented Palaces in the era of the Mughal Emperors in India. The setting creates a unique, exotic atmosphere, overlooking the surrounding green hills and the Andaman Sea beyond. Tambu is a great place to enjoy sunset drinks and a romantic dinner.
I have been to Tambu a few times over the years, and every visit feels like stepping into another world. The tent setting is unlike anything else in Phuket. The food is consistently good, with rich curries and perfectly spiced tandoori dishes. It is not cheap, but for a special dinner with a view, it is one of the better choices near Patong.

Sizzle Rooftop restaurant is a romantic dining place at the top of the Avista Hideaway, south of Patong Beach. To set the tone, you need to know that this hotel is part of the MGallery by Sofitel, an award-winning luxury resort. The resort sits on a hill, and from this unique vantage point, you can admire two bays: Freedom Beach and Paradise Beach. You are not close to the beach, but you can see far above the forest to the sea.
I have had dinner at Sizzle a couple of times, and the views are the real highlight. You can see two bays from up there, which is rare in Phuket. The food is decent international fare, nothing groundbreaking, but the setting more than makes up for it. Best at sunset.

Churrasco Phuket Steakhouse

Cuisine: Steakhouse, South American – Price: $$ Affordable
Located in the popular Jungceylon Mall in Patong Beach, Churrasco Phuket Steakhouse captures the essence of South America. The restaurant offers an extensive selection of premium Wagyu and Black Angus steaks, including popular cuts like Tenderloin, Ribeye, Striploin, Flank, and T-Bone/Porterhouse at reasonable prices and in a casual and cosy atmosphere.
I stopped in for lunch one afternoon at Jungceylon and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the steaks for the price. The Wagyu ribeye was well-prepared, and the atmosphere is relaxed without trying too hard. A good option if you are craving red meat and do not want to pay hotel prices.

Cuisine: Modern Italian – Price: $$$$ Expensive
Acqua is a fantastic Italian restaurant run by talented and friendly Chef Alessandro Frau. This exclusive dining has received many awards and accolades, including a ‘Plate’ award from the Phuket Michelin Guide. On the way to Kamala, the beautifully decorated restaurant is in Kalim Beach, just outside Patong Beach.
Chef Alessandro has been running Acqua for years now, and the consistency is what impresses me most. Every time I bring friends here, the food is spot on, and the service is warm without being stiff. The setting in Kalim is beautiful, and it feels like a proper restaurant rather than a tourist spot. One of the few fine dining places in the Patong area that I genuinely recommend.

Maska

Cuisine: Indian Street Food – Price: $$ Affordable
Featured
Maska brings authentic Indian street food to the hotel’s dining options. The restaurant combines Indian street-style energy with modern design, featuring pop-art walls and a good playlist. The menu focuses on comfort classics: proper chaat, smoky kebabs, fragrant biryanis, and curries made for sharing. Complimentary chai flows through the afternoon, while lassis and kokum fizz cool things down. Come evening, spice-infused cocktails take over.

Ta Khai restaurant at Rosewood Hotel Phuket serves superb sustainable Thai cuisine in a rustic village-style atmosphere. The restaurant is set in a garden by the sea, on the beautiful Tri Trang Beach. As the price is quite high, it’s not your everyday dinner, so keep it for a special occasion. Ta Khai received a ‘Michelin Plate’ from the Michelin Guide for Phuket.

Wood-fired pizzas, mezze platters, and Thai classics all come from open kitchens. There’s a pool table, a terrace facing the street, and a cocktail bar that gets louder after sunset with DJs and drink specials. Open from 6:30 am to midnight. La Gritta at Amari Phuket

Cuisine: Italian – Price: $$$ Pricey
La Gritta Phuket is a fantastic Italian restaurant at Amari Phuket Resort, ranking high among my Most Romantic Restaurants in Phuket.
La Gritta has been my go-to Italian restaurant near Patong for years. The location at Amari is right on the rocks above the sea, and the sunset views are some of the best you will find without leaving Patong. The pasta is always well-made, and the wine list is better than most places on the island. A great date-night spot.
Location: Amari Phuket, Patong Beach

Meg Khram

Cuisine: Thai – Price: $$$ Pricey
Meg Khram is a high-end Thai restaurant at the northern edge of Patong Beach, occupying the former site of Baan Rim Pa restaurant, right beneath Novotel Phuket Resort. The restaurant looks great and has good lighting. The bar has a DJ and saxophone player who add to the atmosphere without being overpowering, and the sunset over the Andaman Sea is hard to beat.
I went to Meg Khram shortly after it opened in the space that used to be Baan Rim Pa, a restaurant I knew well for years. The new design is stylish, and the sunset from the terrace is as good as it always was. The Thai food is above average for the area, and the live saxophone adds a nice touch in the evening. Worth a visit if you want a step up from the usual beach road restaurants.

Paan Yaah Seafood

Cuisine: Thai, Seafood – Price: $$ Affordable
Paan Yaah is a restaurant with a unique seaside location just outside Patong, past Kalim Beach. It’s a little more upmarket without being expensive (well, everyone has a different perception of what expensive means), and it’s a place for a romantic Thai dinner. The restaurant looks like an old house with dim lighting and candles on the table. It’s now quite popular, so you should book as early as possible if you wish to get a table by the water.
Pan Yaah is one of those places I keep recommending because it ticks all the boxes: sea view, decent Thai seafood, and a setting that feels more personal than the big beach road restaurants. I have brought friends here many times, and the reaction is always the same. Book a table by the water if you can.
Location: 249 Prabaramee Road, Kalim Bay, Patong Beach, Phuket
Hours: daily from 11 am – 11 pm

Kalim Rim Lay

Cuisine: Thai – Price: $ Cheap
Kalim Rim Lay is a tiny local restaurant by the water past Kalim Beach. You will need a short ride to get there, but it’s not far. The food is 100% local and can be quite spicy (unless you ask for ‘mai pet’, which means’ not spicy’). The location is great, and sitting in little bamboo huts is a unique experience that was very common 20 years ago around Phuket.
Location: Phrabaramee Road, past Kalim Beach, Patong, Phuket

Sea Salt Lounge

Cuisine: International, Grill – Price: $$$ Pricey
Sea Salt Lounge and Grill is a beautiful restaurant and a seaside bar built on a prime seafront location in Patong Beach, part of the well-known Diamond Cliff Resort. If you are a little familiar with Patong, Sea Salt is next to the now-defunct Da Maurizio, Joe’s Downstairs and Baan Rim Pa set of restaurants on the way to Kalim Beach and Kamala Beach.
Sea Salt took over what used to be one of the most famous dining spots in Patong, and it holds up well. The seafront terrace is the real draw. I have had drinks and dinner here a few times, and the grilled seafood is reliable. It is pricey, but you are paying for the location as much as the food.

Sunshine View Restaurant

Cuisine: Thai, Indian, European, Seafood – Price: $$ Affordable
Sunshine View Restaurant is on the hillside road that leads to Paradise Beach, just past Tri Trang Beach, near Patong. The restaurant serves Indian, Thai, European, and seafood dishes (including huge prawns and Phuket lobsters) at reasonable prices. They also pride themselves on creative cocktails. The main draw is the immense wooden terrace, offering panoramic views of Tri Trang Beach.
I first visited Sunshine View for the terrace, which overlooks Tri Trang Beach from the hillside. The view is genuinely impressive, especially late in the afternoon. The food is a mix of Thai, Indian, and European, and the seafood platters are generous. It is not the most refined cooking, but the setting makes it a worthwhile stop if you are exploring south of Patong.
Location: Tri Trang Beach
Address: 92 Tri Trang Beach 3 Muen-Ngern Rd, Patong Kathu District, Phuket 83150

The Cozy Cafe

Cuisine: Thai, Cafe – Price: $$ Affordable
The Cozy Cafe is one of the few restaurants built on the hillside overlooking the south of Tri Trang Beach. The restaurant is built on the roadside and has several terraces for guests to enjoy food or drinks. The lower terrace is the most popular, decorated with bean bags and a swing hanging high from a coconut tree. The place is designed to attract selfie lovers!
The Cozy Cafe is more of a photo spot than a serious restaurant, but I have stopped here a couple of times for a drink and the view. The bean bags on the lower terrace overlooking the bay are popular for good reason. The food is simple Thai cafe fare. Come for the scenery and the Instagram swing, not for a serious meal.

No.6 on the Hill

Cuisine: Thai – Price: $ Cheap
Number 6 Restaurant ‘Up The Hill’ is one of the most popular places in Patong Beach. But did you know that there are two Numbers 6? The original and best-known No.6 Restaurant is on Rat-U-Thit Road, not far from Bangla Road, and it’s surprisingly crowded if you consider that the food is quite average. (Sorry if it hurts, but once you know Thai food, you will understand).
Location: 32 Soi Phrabarami 3, Patong Beach, Phuket
Hours: 8:30 am – 12 pm
Phone: 081 922 4084
Kee Sky Lounge

Cuisine: International, Bar – Price: $$$ Pricey
The Kee Sky Lounge rooftop bar at the Kee Resort in Patong Beach has been popular for years. The rooftop bar invites you to the sun deck of a luxury cruiser, one of the best places in Patong to enjoy a sunset with a cocktail and great music. The rooftop is in a very strategic location, near Bangla Walking Street and the beach.
The Kee Sky Lounge has been around for a while now, and the rooftop setting is still one of the best in Patong. I have been up there several times for sunset cocktails, and the view over the bay never gets old. The food is secondary to the drinks and the atmosphere, but it is a fun spot for an evening out.

Naughty Nuri’s Phuket

Cuisine: Ribs, BBQ – Price: $$ Affordable
Naughty Nuri’s Phuket is a large restaurant in Patong Beach famous for its signature ribs and piglets. The restaurant is vast and welcoming, and the staff is known to be friendly and cheerful. Most importantly, the food is delicious and well-priced.
Naughty Nuri’s is the kind of place you go when you want big portions, loud music, and no pretence. The ribs are the main attraction, and they are consistently good. I have taken visiting friends here who were not in the mood for Thai food, and it always goes down well. Casual and fun.

Butcher’s Garden

Cuisine: Steakhouse, Grill – Price: $$$ Pricey
Butcher’s Garden at Indigo Hotel Phuket Patong is a steak house offering an excellent dining experience with a great selection of premium cuts and garden-fresh ingredients in a cosy setting.
I had dinner at Butcher’s Garden when Hotel Indigo first opened, and the steaks were well-sourced and cooked properly. The garden setting is a nice change from the typical hotel restaurant feel. If you are staying in central Patong and want a steak without leaving the area, this is a reliable option.

Bon Pan Asian Tapas Restaurant

Cuisine: Pan-Asian – Price: $$$ Pricey
Bon Pan Asian Tapas is a creative restaurant with a unique style, blending food cultures across Asia, from Chinese, Vietnamese, and Mongolian to Japanese specialities. The restaurant is designed with red tones and downlights, creating an elegant yet casual decor, the kind of trendy restaurant you would find in big cities.
Bon Pan Asian surprised me. The mix of Asian cuisines could easily go wrong, but the execution is better than expected. The dim sum and the Vietnamese spring rolls stood out. The red-toned decor is a bit intense, but the food makes up for it. A good dinner option if you are staying nearby.

Hern Coffee and Bistro

Cuisine: Thai – Price: $$$ Pricey
Hern Coffee and Bistro is a cool and well-designed Thai restaurant on the beachfront of Patong. The location in front of the well-known Baan Lamai hotel is very convenient, making it a great place to enjoy dinner with a good atmosphere within walking distance from Bangla Walking Street. If you plan to party tonight, this is a good place to enjoy great food because everyone knows that a party is better with a full and happy stomach.
Hern is well-positioned on the beachfront, and I have stopped here before heading to Bangla a few times. The Thai dishes are better than the Western options on the menu. The design is modern and clean, and it is a comfortable place to sit and people-watch along the beach road.
Location: Patong Beach

Endless Summer Beach Club

Cuisine: International, Beach Club – Price: $$$ Pricey
Endless Summer Beach Club is located inside the Courtyard by Marriott, across the road from the quieter southern end of Patong Beach. The venue features an infinity pool with sea views, daybeds, sun loungers and several dining areas. The kitchen serves wood-fired pizza, seafood and international dishes, and the bar offers handcrafted cocktails and a good wine selection. DJs play daily from the afternoon, and fire shows run twice a week. By day, it’s relaxed and family-friendly. By evening, the energy picks up considerably.
Endless Summer is one of the newer additions to Patong’s beach scene. I visited after it opened and liked the layout. The infinity pool faces the sea, the pizza from the wood-fired oven was good, and the cocktails were well-made. It gets lively in the evening with DJs, but during the day, it is relaxed enough for families. A welcome addition to the south end of the beach.

Paname Brasserie

Cuisine: French, European, Thai – Price: $$ Affordable
Paname Brasserie Phuket is a retro-concept restaurant offering comfort food and recipes from France, Europe and Thailand. It is located at Jungceylon Shopping Mall’s main entrance, steps away from Bangla Street, in Patong Beach. The restaurant is open daily from 10:30 am to 10:30 pm and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch, late night, and drinks.
Paname is convenient if you are shopping at Jungceylon and want a proper sit-down meal. I have had lunch here a couple of times, and the French-Thai fusion works better than you might expect. The croque monsieur is good, and the Thai dishes hold their own. Nothing fancy, but reliable and well-located.

Vista Restaurant at Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong

Cuisine: International – Price: $$$ Pricey
Vista Restaurant, located at Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong – MGallery, offers a good dining experience inspired by the Andaman Sea. Its shimmering blue mosaic tiles and elegant design create a pleasant atmosphere, good for any occasion.
Vista is the main restaurant at the Avista Hideaway, and I have had breakfast here during a stay. The setting is elegant, and the international menu covers enough ground to keep everyone happy. Nothing extraordinary, but well-executed and comfortable. A good option if you are already at the hotel.

No. 9 Restaurant

Cuisine: Thai, European – Price: $ Cheap
Number 9 is a modest Thai restaurant that is much talked about on social media. The design is not impressive, and the location by the street makes it somewhat anonymous. The menu is long, offering both Thai and European cuisine. I tried it a couple of times, and the Thai food was good! It is not toned down unless you ask, and it is as tasty as Thai food should be. The setting is comfortable, the restaurant is spotless, and the staff are very friendly.

Kaab Gluay Thai Restaurant

Cuisine: Thai – Price: $$ Affordable
Kaab Kluay is an old-time favourite, run by a local who’s been serving excellent Thai food at the right price for decades. Expats living in Patong know the place very well and often take their guests or customers there for a real Thai dinner. The restaurant is on the outskirts of town, just before the Thai temple you saw when entering Patong, so you probably need a short tuk-tuk ride to get there. The restaurant has an indoor and an outdoor area and is quite big, so you won’t need a reservation. Note that it’s by a busy road, so it’s not exactly a romantic dinner.
Location: 58/3 Phrabaramee Road, Patong Beach, Phuket

Atrio Restaurant

Cuisine: International Buffet – Price: $$$ Pricey
Atrio Restaurant at Mövenpick Myth Hotel Patong Phuket offers a dining experience with various food options, including Italian pasta, risotto, cold cuts, cheeses, Thai dishes, and desserts. It is situated by a pool, with indoor and outdoor seating available. The team provides great service, aiming to meet customer expectations. Atrio is an international buffet location, offering a mix of European and Thai cuisine. Its elegant and stylish decor and atmosphere will impress families and friends. The restaurant is also very popular for its Sunday brunch, and customers are encouraged to book in advance.
I went to the Sunday brunch here once, and it was well worth it. The spread is large, the quality is above average for a hotel buffet, and the poolside setting is pleasant. If you are staying in Patong and want a proper brunch, this is one of the better options.

Roxane Cafe Restaurant

Cuisine: International, Cafe – Price: $$ Affordable
Roxane Cafe and Restaurant is a cafe and restaurant on the beachfront road of Patong Beach in Phuket. The location is convenient, and the food is really good, especially considering the large selection of breakfasts!
Roxane is a good beachfront option for breakfast or a casual lunch. I stopped here one morning and the breakfast selection was impressive for the price. The location on the beach road is convenient, and the coffee is better than most places in Patong.

Phuket Eatery

Cuisine: International – Price: $$ Affordable
The Phuket Eatery is the Courtyard By Marriott Phuket, Patong Beach Resort’s primary restaurant, serving international dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The comfortable and family-friendly setting provides a convenient dining option near the lobby for both work-related meetings and enjoyable meals with loved ones.
The Phuket Eatery is the kind of hotel restaurant that is easy to overlook, but I have had a couple of decent meals here. The breakfast buffet is well-stocked, and the dinner menu has a good mix of Thai and international dishes. Convenient if you are at the Courtyard or nearby.

Briley Chicken Rice

Cuisine: Hainanese Chicken Rice – Price: $ Cheap
If you like delicious Hainanese Chicken Rice and you happen to be in Patong Beach, you need to visit Briley, which has been open for more than 20 years now. The restaurant is popular because it is cheap and good. The chicken is very moist and tender, not dry as you as often find it in food courts, and the bone stock soup is also delicious. Chicken rice is an excellent dish for travellers who can’t eat spicy food.

No.6 in Patong

Cuisine: Thai – Price: $ Cheap
There are two restaurants called No.6, and they are sisters. The original one, simply called No6, is in the very centre of Patong. The second one is named ‘Number 6 up the hill’ and is, as the names imply, on the south hill of Patong. The original one is a bit of a social phenomenon and a fun proof of the belief that ‘if there is a queue, it must be delicious’. So I queued (when the queue was not too long) and had a try.
The food is not bad, but the atmosphere and service are nonexistent. You will sit shoulder to shoulder with your neighbour, and the staff have no time to be nice to you. So, you’d better take advantage of their free shuttle and get a fun ride up the hill. You will get a better view and a better seat.

The Kitchen

Cuisine: Thai, International – Price: $$ Affordable
The Kitchen Patong is a large and casual restaurant conveniently located across the street from the famous Bangla Walking Street in Patong Beach, just a short distance from Jungceylon Shopping Mall. The location, the vast menu and the fact that the restaurant opens until 3 am make it a good choice to have a good dinner before starting your night or once you decide to call it a night.
The Kitchen is useful for late-night eating, which is not easy to find in Patong outside of street food. I have been here after midnight a couple of times, and the Thai dishes were decent. It is nothing special during the day, but at 2 am after Bangla, it does the job.

Savoey Seafood Restaurant
My personal favourites in Patong lean towards fine dining. Tambu and Acqua are both worth the price for a proper evening out, and both have been consistent over the years, which is not always easy to find in Patong. For seafood, walk the beach road and look for the fresh catch displayed out front. That still works after all these years. And when I want real Thai food rather than the tourist-friendly version, Kaab Kluay and Kalim Rim Lay are where I go.
Patong gets a lot of criticism from people who prefer quieter parts of Phuket, and some of it is fair. But the restaurant scene here is genuinely good if you know where to look. This page is built on 30 years of knowing where to look.

When I first started eating out in Patong in the mid-1990s, the restaurant scene was mostly beach road seafood places and simple Thai shops on the back streets. Baan Rim Pa was one of the few fine dining options, perched on the rocks at the north end. That building has changed hands several times since then, and today it is Meg Khram. The old seafood restaurants along the beach road have also evolved, some closing and new ones taking their place, but the concept of fresh fish displayed on ice out front has not changed in 30 years.
The biggest shift came with the arrival of international hotel brands. Rosewood brought Ta Khai, Amari had La Gritta, and the Avista Hideaway introduced Tambu and Sizzle. These hotels raised the bar for dining in Patong and gave visitors a reason to eat somewhere beyond the beach road. The Michelin Guide arriving in Phuket in 2019 accelerated that even further. Today, Patong has more variety and higher quality than at any point since I have been here.
Insider Tips for Eating in Patong
The beach road restaurants charge more than those a block or two inland. If you want the same Thai food at lower prices, walk one street back from the seafront. Bangla Road itself is mostly bars and clubs. The actual restaurants are on the side streets around it and along Rat-U-Thit Road.
For sunset dining, book ahead. L’Arome, Pan Yaah, Sea Salt, and Meg Khram all fill up fast, especially during high season. If you want a sea-view table, calling a day or two in advance is worth it. Hotel restaurants in Patong are generally better than standalone tourist restaurants, which is the opposite of what you find in Phuket Town. And if you are craving real Thai food without the tourist markup, take a short ride to Kaab Kluay or Kalim Rim Lay. Both are less than 10 minutes from central Patong.
