Bar.Yard Rooftop Bangkok
Bar.Yard Rooftop Bar is the latest sky-high lounge to explore and enjoy in Bangkok. This cosy venue is perched on the 40th floor of the Kimpton Maa-Lai Hotel, a new 5-star hotel standing next to the even more luxurious Kempinski hotel in the posh Ploenchit area. The floor is divided into an indoor area and a beautiful outdoor terrace where guests can sit for a drink or even enjoy dinner al fresco.
Keep in mind that space and seats are somewhat limited, and the demand is high, at least for now, so you really should call in advance if you wish to secure a table outside. Be aware that the terrace is facing east, which means that you won’t be able to enjoy the sunset!
From up there, you will have a superb panoramic view of Ploenchit with its tree line, Wireless road and beyond. The first thing you will identify is the CRC pointy towers and the many tall buildings surrounding them. On the left are the fancy Central Embassy shopping mall, the Okura Hotel, and directly at the feet of the Kimpton Tower, the US Ambassador residence surrounded by a vast garden that offers a beautiful green landscape (at least for now). As you stand on the 40th floor, you can even look down at ‘Char Rooftop Bar‘, another popular rooftop located on the 26th floor of the Indigo Hotel.
What to order
Beyond the vast cocktails, you can order tacos and tapas from a mixed menu. The day’s tacos were surprisingly cheap and delicious beyond our expectations: Pork rib off the bone, beef brisket, pork neck, vegetarian or even snapper (only 70 Baht per taco).
If you are not in the mood for tacos, there is a lot more to choose from on the main menu that would be too long to describe here. Double beef slider (290 baht), Slow cooked chipotle beef brisket (360 baht), 6 chicken wings (190 baht), 6 oven-dried wagyu butchers steak skewers (320), to name a few, but the menu is much longer and more descriptive too.
